If you have never looked into it before, the world of ezines is actually pretty interesting. From a graphic design perspective, ezines are fascinating to create. First of all, an ezine can be used for a huge number of purposes, and no matter what you are trying to achieve you should find that this suits your purpose. What’s more, ezines can be created relatively quickly and with surprisingly little effort, meaning that you can save a lot of time in the process. But how can you be sure that your ezine is being created as well as possible? Let’s take a look at the basic procedure for making an ezine, so that you can ensure yours is as good as possible.
Decide On A Theme
As with any other project, you need to be sure that you know exactly what it is setting out to achieve. If you don’t, then you might find that the project fails long before you have really got it up and running. You will need a theme at the very least, as this will give you the opportunity to know where you are going from there. If you already know exactly what your ezine is in aid of, then you should find that this is pretty straightforward. However, you should get it down on paper first; people often have a tendency to jump straight into digital creations, but this is not the best way to go.
Template Or Freehand?
If you are looking for speed, then you might want to think about using templates in order to create your ezine, at least to begin with. There are a huge number of templates out there, and you are bound to find one that suits your purposes without having to look for too long. Alternatively, of course, you could consider going freehand. This has the distinct advantage of being much more personal and creative, but will almost certainly take a good deal longer as well. However, if you are keen on being able to say that it is entirely yours, then this might be the way to go.
The Question Of Image
Doubtless, you will need some images, and here you have a similar question to ask as the previous one. You need to figure out whether you want to create images yourself or use stock photos to beef up your design. Both methods have their advantages, but with stock photos you can ensure that you are saving time while also lending an air of professionalism to your product. Of course, it all depends on the kind of finished result that you are keen on, so you need to make this decision yourself.
Distribution
Finally, you will need to start thinking about how you are going to distribute your ezine. Chances are, you will want to host it on your own website and domain, but you might also want the ability to print it out and make a real zine out of it. If you do that, you could consider having a donate page on the ezine so that you can get the necessary funds for it.
