Today we want to present you Dorota Pankowska. Dori is great art director originally from Toronto, Canada but currently living in Paris. She designed a set of 13 animal illustrations using only 13 geometrical figures. The illustrations were inspired from the twitter logo which uses the same technique and same number of circles. You can find Dori on Twitter and Facebook, and she's also available for freelance work.
Dori has been kind enough to respond to some of our questions, so let's find more about her and her work, shall we?
What’s the story of these 13 designs?
The number 13 came from the numbers of circles in the Twitter logo, which I think is brilliant. So I decided there must also be 13 animals. Also, I was born on the 13th. It’s basically the best number ever.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Inspiration comes from anywhere. My favorites are projects with very obvious concepts. The things that make people go “That’s genius! Why didn’t I think of that?” Although I also really love very simple, elegant and modern design. I had a lot of design inspiration for this project from Dribbble.
Please describe your design style in 3 words.
Clean, conceptual, youthful
What’s the first thing you do in the morning?
Usually, lay in bed and ponder about how weird my dream was.
Things you like to do in your free time?
Other than the internet!? I like to dance, work on side projects, play video games and explore the streets at night time.
Why freelancing?
I don’t do as much freelance work as I used to since I work a lot of hours at my current full-time job. I do hope to do freelance as a full-time job again sometime. I really enjoy projects that have little miscommunication, realistic budgets and a lot of creative freedom.
